Pasig city: The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday revealed that the raided entertainment bar and hotel run by the family of former lawmaker Mike Defensor had alterations in its building's layout to facilitate human trafficking. NBI director Melvin Matibag and some agents of the bureau presented to the media the blueprint of the Chicago KTV Bar and the Bleu Hotel, stressing that the structure of the building was secretly changed to 'perpetrate human trafficking activities' by providing a secret passage between the establishments where women could proceed to the hotel rooms, while 'customers' were reportedly directed to use faux 'fire exits' to the hotel from the bar.

According to Philippines News Agency, the investigation showed major changes between the approved plan filed before the Pasig City Engineer's Office and the as-built structure for Cliffpoint Square, the bar and hotel establishment's lessor. Aside from fake fire exits, discreet vehicle exit points were put up, Matibag added.

'What's the bottom line? They changed the design so that the Chicago and Bleu Hotel could perpetrate what they were doing, human trafficking. And Mike Defensor clearly knew,' Matibag said in a press briefing. 'So they are not ordinary lessors, so they really planned what they were going to do. They even violated the building code, changing the design without notice,' he added.

Matibag stated that the NBI is set to file a human trafficking complaint against Defensor before the Pasig City Prosecutor's Office. The agency will also file the same complaints against other officials of the establishment, including Defensor's other child, who served as corporate secretary.

Charges were earlier filed against the former lawmaker's wife, Julie Rose Defensor, and their son, Miguel Gabriel Defensor, whose names appeared in the establishment's corporate documents. The NBI raided the bar last April 21 and rescued 54 female victims. Defensor has earlier denied the allegations.
