NBI Arrests 31 in Laguna Anti-Drug Raid

San pedro: A total of 31 individuals were arrested during an intensified anti-drug dragnet in San Pedro, Laguna, earlier this week.

According to Philippines News Agency, twenty-eight of those arrested tested positive for illegal drug use, as confirmed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), which conducted the operation on Wednesday. In a news release Thursday, the NBI stated that authorities recovered approximately 30.5 grams of suspected shabu during the operation. However, the exact amount was not specified.

The raid was initiated based on multiple search warrants issued by Judge Nida Tabulada-Gravino of San Pedro City Regional Trial Court Branch 169 and was simultaneously executed in Barangays San Antonio and Cuyab. The NBI Dangerous Drugs Division led the operation, collaborating with other operational units.

NBI chief Melvin Matibag emphasized the significance of this operation, stating, "This operation sends a clear and unequivocal message - there will be no safe haven for illegal drugs, even at the community level." He further added, "The NBI will not hesitate to act decisively and personally lead efforts to dismantle drug activities wherever they operate."

Further investigation is underway to determine if the arrested individuals have connections to organized drug syndicates.
