Manila: The Metro Rail Transit 7 (MRT-7) project will operate with 14 stations, including the San Jose del Monte (SJDM) station in Bulacan, the Department of Transportation said Sunday. In a statement, the DOTr clarified this amid reports that only 13 stations will push through.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DOTr confirmed that the San Jose del Monte (SJDM) Station remains part of the MRT-7 project and has not been removed from the approved alignment. It further added that the department is on track to commence operations of the initial 12 stations, from Sacred Heart to North Avenue, by the second quarter of 2027.
The DOTr stated that the Tala and SJDM stations are expected to be completed and opened to the riding public in 2028. The railway line's 14 stations include North EDSA, Quezon Memorial Circle, University Avenue, Tandang Sora, Don Antonio, Batasan, Manggahan, Do±a Carmen, Regalado, Mindanao Avenue, Quirino, Sacred Heart, Tala, and San Jose del Monte.
Once completed, the MRT-7 will shorten travel time from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan. This development will also help alleviate vehicular traffic along Commonwealth Avenue.
