Manila: The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is moving forward with Game 2 of the South Division semifinals this week as the country begins to recover from the impact of Super Typhoon Uwan. The league announced that the doubleheader, featuring Quezon versus GenSan in the first game and Bi±an against Batangas City in the second, originally scheduled for Monday night, will now take place on Tuesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Batangas City Coliseum has been designated as the new venue for the Rum Masters’ home game, replacing the initially planned Batangas Province Events Center. The Quezon Huskers and Bi±an Tatak Gel, each leading 1-0 in their best-of-three series, aim to secure victories and advance to a best-of-five showdown for South Division supremacy. Should GenSan and Batangas City extend the series to a decisive game, it will occur on Saturday at Batangas City’s venue.
In related developments, San Juan is set to host the final game of the North Division semifinals against Pangasinan at the Playtime FilOil Centre. The Knights, who previously hosted playoff games at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig due to scheduling conflicts at their home venue, managed to force a Game 3. This was achieved after a commanding 83-66 win over the Heatwaves, highlighted by a dominating 30-7 third-quarter performance.
