Montalban: Heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon prompted the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) to postpone its All-Star Game at Ynares Center in Montalban, Rizal on Saturday. The regional league made the announcement when the province was still under orange rainfall (intense) warning. An hour later, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration upgraded the province's alert level to red (torrential).

According to Philippines News Agency, this marked the first time the MPBL temporarily called off its All-Star festivities since its first staging in 2019. The event was also set to feature the Executives Game, Slam Dunk Contest, and 3-Point Shootout. This year's edition would have marked the debut of the 1-on-1 Invitational.

"The MPBL will announce the rescheduled date and further details at the soonest possible time," the league said in a statement. Despite the postponement, two other professional leagues, the Philippine Kings League and Mobile Legends Bang Bang Professional League, decided to proceed with their Saturday matches even though Metro Manila was also under red rainfall warning.

An official from the Philippines Football League mentioned that the league might continue with its season opener on Sunday night. An announcement from the league is expected before the 5 p.m. kickoff between Mendiola and Maharlika at Rizal Memorial Stadium, which is located in flood-prone Malate, Manila.
