Tarlac: Authorities and concerned agencies led by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Tarlac Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) retrieved the submerged vehicle from the Tarlac River on Wednesday evening, even as two of the four missing passengers have been recovered in Pangasinan.

According to Philippines News Agency, the sports utility vehicle (SUV) was identified by the victims' family members as the same one that plunged into the river following the partial collapse of Agana Bridge in Tarlac City on Aug. 29, the Tarlac PDRRMO said. No bodies were recovered from the vehicle, it added.

The body of a male, later confirmed as one of the passengers, was recovered on Aug. 31 floating in seawater approximately eight kilometers from the shoreline of Lingayen, Pangasinan, according to a statement by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO).

The body was initially recovered by personnel of the Coast Guard Dagupan Substation and brought to the port area near Barangay Poblacion Oeste, Dagupan City.

"Through continuing investigation and verification, the recovered cadaver was positively identified as a 35-year-old male, single, a nurse, self-employed, and a resident of Tarlac City, Tarlac," the Pangasinan PPO said in a report Thursday.

The cadaver has been turned over to the family, who transported the remains to Tarlac City for funeral arrangements and burial.

A body of a female was recovered in a flooded farm in Bayambang, Pangasinan, on Sept. 1, the Pangasinan PPO stated.

The Bayambang Municipal Police Station responded to the report and coordinated with the Tarlac City Police Station, which led to the identification of the recovered cadaver as a 24-year-old female, one of the missing persons from the Agana Bridge collapse.

"A family member personally identified the remains," the Pangasinan PPO confirmed.

The Bayambang Police assisted the Tarlac City Police, the local government of Tarlac, and the victim's family in facilitating the transport of the remains to her hometown.

Col. Dennis De Leon, officer-in-charge of the Pangasinan PPO, said they will continue to exert every possible effort, in coordination with concerned agencies, to locate the remaining two missing individuals, assist affected families and ensure the proper identification and dignified disposition of recovered victims.
