Marcos Welcomes Dialogue Amidst Speculations of Meeting with Vice President

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. remains open to engaging in discussions with anyone, including those who hold opposing views, according to Malaca±ang. This statement comes amid speculation on social media that Vice President Sara Duterte has requested a private meeting with the President.

According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that Malaca±ang could not verify reports regarding a potential meeting request from Duterte. "Sa ngayon ay wala tayong makukumpirma (As of now, we can't confirm anything relating to that)," Castro mentioned during a Palace briefing.

When asked about the possibility of President Marcos agreeing to such a meeting if requested, Castro highlighted that the President had previously expressed his willingness to engage in dialogue with anyone, irrespective of political differences. "Ang sabi ng Pangulo sa una pa lang niyang podcast, kahit sino, sa lahat nang maaaring hindi sumasang-ayon sa kaniya, siya ay bukas upang makipag-usap para magkaroon ng magandang pagkakaintindihan (As the President said in his very first podcast, he is open to talking to anyone, including those who may disagree with him, so that they can come to a better understanding)," she explained.

Castro emphasized that the President's openness should not be misconstrued as a specific invitation to meet with Vice President Duterte. Additionally, she was questioned about whether the President remains open to reconciling or collaborating with Duterte despite recent statements and developments. "Sa lahat ng kababayan natin, sa lahat ng tao ay open ang Pangulo (The President is open to all our fellow citizens and to everyone)," Castro affirmed.
