Marcos Orders Investigation and Protection Following Child’s Abuse Report

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has directed authorities to investigate reports of abuse and harassment in a locality in Camarines Sur. This decision follows a letter from an 11-year-old student detailing the distressing situation.

According to Philippines News Agency, the President's response to the child's letter was one of profound emotion, as he described being 'close to tears' and 'very angry.' The letter prompted immediate action to ensure the safety of the victims involved. President Marcos assured the child of governmental support, stating, 'I am sending policemen to you and your sisters to protect you and to find anyone who has hurt any of you.'

The letter, authored by a Grade 6 student from Tinambac, Camarines Sur, highlighted concerns of alleged sexual abuse and intimidation involving a barangay official. It also addressed how these incidents have affected children's safety and access to education in the area. Marcos assured the student that measures would be taken to protect her and others in the community, emphasizing the importance of their education by saying, 'I will make sure that you will be able to continue reading and studying as much as you want.'

President Marcos praised the child's bravery, intelligence, and kindness. He expressed his commitment to aiding her and her sisters in any necessary way. The letter, which has gained attention on social media, reported alleged sexual violence by the sons of a barangay official, who is also accused of harassment, intimidation, and causing disruptions to basic services in the community.
