Marcos Announces Significant Fuel Price Reduction for Next Week

Manila: Motorists can expect respite in the coming days, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said on Saturday, as he announced a huge price rollback of PHP24.94 per liter for diesel, PHP3.41 for gasoline, and PHP2 for kerosene next week.

According to Philippines News Agency, this rollback is notably larger than the previous week's reduction and signals forthcoming relief for consumers. In a taped video message, President Marcos urged oil companies to implement the announced price cuts in full, without any delay. "Ipatupad ninyo ang rollback ng buo, tama at walang pagkaantala. Ibigay ninyo sa taong bayan ang dapat naman na nasa kanila (Implement the rollback fully, correctly and without delay. Give the people what they deserve)," he emphasized.

President Marcos also encouraged the public to report any violations regarding the rollback to the Office of the President and the Department of Energy. "Kung may paglabag, ipaalam po ninyo sa amin. Kikilos kami kaagad (If there is a violation, let us know. We will act on it)," he assured the citizens.

In addition to the fuel price reduction, the government has committed to continuing its relief measures for the transport sector. This includes maintaining a PHP10 fuel discount for public utility vehicles and buses, alongside the Service Contracting Program for drivers. Moreover, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has extended the validity of expired licenses, student permits, conductor's licenses, and vehicle registrations by three months, allowing them to remain valid until July without incurring fines or surcharges.

President Marcos expressed the government's awareness of the challenges faced by Filipinos during this period and reiterated their commitment to ensuring that relief reaches the public. "Batid namin ang sitwasyon ng bawat Pilipino sa panahong ito. Hindi tayo titigil. Hindi tayo uurong. At hindi natin hahayaan na ang ginhawang ito ay hindi po makarating sa taong-bayan (We are aware of the situation of every Filipino during this time. We will not stop. We will not back down. And we would ensure that relief would reach the public)," he declared.
