San carlos: Tennielle Madis won her first title this year, pulling off a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Stefi Marithe Aludo in the Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) Women's National Open at San Carlos Tennis Center in Negros Occidental on Saturday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Madis and Aludo, both members of the Philippine Tennis Academy (PTA), also secured the doubles title after prevailing over Emana siblings Mica and Kaye Ann, 6-0, 6-3. "Both of them played well in the singles, good rallies, high quality. Both of them scored points not relying on the opponent's errors," PTA coach Bobie Angelo said in a media interview. "Their game was impressive today, their shots were very aggressive," the former Davis Cupper added.
The champions received PHP75,000 for singles and PHP30,000 for doubles, while the runners-up got PHP40,000 for singles and PHP15,000 for doubles. Madis won the PCA (Philippine Columbian Association) Open, Gentry Open, and Olivarez Open last year. She also bagged the doubles bronze medal with Aludo in the Thailand Southeast Asian Games in December 2025.
