Cebu:The Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) has partnered with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) to launch a new campaign aimed at encouraging travelers to explore the Visayas region.
According to Philippines News Agency, the campaign, titled "Discover the Visayas, Fly via Cebu," was formalized through a memorandum of agreement signed by officials from MCIA, DOT, and PCCI on October 23. This initiative is designed to highlight Cebu as a central gateway for multi-island travel within the Visayas.
The campaign's slogan, "One Gateway. More Islands," focuses on showcasing destinations such as Lapu-Lapu, Panglao, Boracay, Siquijor, Guimaras, and Biliran. It aims to demonstrate how travelers can extend their journeys beyond a single location to experience more of the Visayas.
MCIA's operator, Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation (ACAC), stated that the airport facilitates connections for international and domestic travelers with onward air, sea, and land travel throughout the region. The airport currently supports flights to 28 domestic and 13 international destinations, with automatic baggage transfers to ease layovers.
The campaign also involves collaborations with Trip.com and Klook, providing travelers with access to flights, hotels, and a variety of activities and experiences, along with partner deals and offers.
