Ilocos norte:<Text>

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Regional Franchising and Regulatory Office (LTFRB RFRO) 1 has issued a Notice of Compliance (NOC) to nine local government units (LGUs) in Ilocos Norte province. The LGUs that received the NOC include the City of Batac and the municipalities of Dumalneg, Nueva Era, Bangui, Marcos, Piddig, Vintar, Carasi, and San Nicolas.

According to Philippines News Agency, the NOC is valid for five years, aiming to enhance mobility, alleviate traffic congestion, and ensure efficient public transport services. The awarding ceremony was held at the Ilocos Norte Capitol Auditorium, with Ilocos Norte Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos and the Metro Ilocos Norte Council in attendance.

Governor Araneta-Marcos emphasized the significance of the Local Public Transport Route Plans (LPTRP) in the operation of transport services across the province. She highlighted the ongoing construction of the central termina l, which is currently in its third phase. This phase involves completing the main building for jeepney services, constructing the bus terminal, and building a two-story office facility. It also includes finalizing the drainage system and road network.

'We really need to organize our connection between our local transport hub and our bypass roads,' the governor stated, noting that compliance requires discipline and a shared understanding that regulations protect the riding public.

Regional Director Cristal Sibayan of the LTFRB-1 commended the LGUs for their efforts in providing safe, accessible, and inclusive transportation for their residents. Despite Batac City's growth and development, the LTFRB has not approved the proposed intra-LGU fixed public utility vehicle routes as the existing public transport options adequately meet current demands.

'The city is well served by established intra-city and inter-municipal routes that connect key destinations, inc luding educational institutions, commercial areas, and emerging development zones,' the LTFRB mentioned in a statement.
