LTFRB Investigates Bus Operator Following Quezon Collision

Gumaca: The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has taken action against a passenger bus operator after a road accident in Gumaca, Quezon, left at least 25 passengers injured. The LTFRB issued a show cause order (SCO) to the bus operator as part of its investigation into the incident, which reportedly involved the driver losing control of the bus.

According to Philippines News Agency, LTFRB Chair Vigor Mendoza II emphasized the agency's commitment to uncovering the cause of the crash. The investigation aims to determine whether the incident was due to issues related to roadworthiness, the driver, or other factors. The bus operator has been instructed to provide a written explanation detailing why their franchise should not face suspension or revocation following the crash.

The operator is also required to attend a hearing scheduled for March 13, 2026, at the LTFRB. Mendoza assured that the hearing would be conducted fairly and highlighted the LTFRB's dedication to overseeing the insurance claims process for all injured passengers.

The accident occurred on Friday when the bus was traveling along a national highway. The vehicle reportedly lost control, collided with another vehicle, and overturned. The injured passengers were promptly transported to a hospital for medical attention.
