Manila: Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chair Vigor Mendoza II announced the appointment of three new regional directors as part of an ongoing reorganization within the agency.
According to Philippines News Agency, the appointments were made by Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez, following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to enhance efficiency in government services. Mendoza emphasized that the new assignments are part of efforts to ensure that the LTFRB delivers the best possible services to its clients by placing qualified individuals in key positions.
The office order, signed by Lopez, appointed Abosamen Matuan as the new director of the Regional Franchising and Regulatory Office (RFRO) 7, succeeding Eduardo Montealto Jr. Alexes Joseph Bendijo has been designated as the new head for RFRO in Region 10, while Gerry Llena will lead the RFRO in the Negros Island Region.
Mendoza urged the newly appointed directors to prioritize public interest, particularly in enhancing public transportation. He expressed confidence in their ability to execute their responsibilities effectively, especially amid the ongoing reform programs across the nation aimed at advocating for commuters' rights while addressing the transport sector's concerns.
The LTFRB is currently focusing on addressing issues related to bus and other public utility vehicle terminals with inadequate facilities. Additionally, the agency has planned public consultations with stakeholders in the public transportation sector to discuss fare hike petitions and other related issues.
