Low-Cost Housing Project in Ilocos Norte to Proceed in November

Batac city: The construction of a model house for socialized low-cost housing that will kickstart Phase 2 of the Adigi Homes project in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, is set to start next month. Evalaudia Duyor, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Assessors Office, said in an interview on Wednesday that preparations are underway for the National Housing Authority to proceed with the project in partnership with the provincial government.

According to Philippines News Agency, the project has garnered interest from 30 aspiring homeowners who are eager to apply for Phase 2. The first phase saw 12 aspiring homeowners submit applications. Located in Barangay Quiling Norte in Batac City, Adigi Homes is part of a pioneering group housing loan initiative by Pag-IBIG Fund in the Ilocos Region, spanning 4.8 hectares.

The Adigi Homes project initially received a PHP20-million budget allocation from Pag-IBIG Fund. It targets beneficiaries such as government workers from Mariano Marcos State University, Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital, other research institutes, and national agencies. Additionally, Batac residents currently renting but considering home ownership through viable housing packages are expected to benefit from the initiative.

Applicants have the option to choose from 30-square-meter, 36-square-meter, and duplex bungalow-type units. Loans will feature an interest rate of six to seven percent per annum, payable within three years upon release.

In a social media post, Vice Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc expressed that the project aims to provide decent and affordable housing for Ilocano families, supporting the national government’s objective of building resilient and sustainable communities across the country. He also highlighted that the project aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Build Better More Housing Program.
