Ilocos Norte Town Allocates P25-Million Agri Aid for Local Farmers

Ilocos norte: Registered farmers in this town continue to receive agricultural inputs from the municipal government, along with interventions from the Department of Agriculture and the Philippine Rice Research Institute, to ease the rising cost of living.

According to Philippines News Agency, Municipal Agriculturist Erickson Biag announced that PHP25 million from the municipality's share of tobacco excise tax has been used to provide timely assistance this planting season.

"We continue to prioritize the agriculture sector because when our farmers thrive, Currimao prospers," Biag stated after the distribution of hybrid and inbred rice seeds, soil conditioners, and fertilizers to more than 800 farmer beneficiaries. An additional 144 selected farmers received fertilizer spreaders to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Biag emphasized, "This initiative is more than just a distribution of farm inputs - it is an investment in the hands that feed our community." Farmer beneficiary Agnes Asuncion expressed gratitude, stating, "The Currimao government, as well as other government agencies, have been helpful to us farmers. It means a lot to us that we are being consulted and heard."

On June 11, the municipal agriculture office will commence distributing the first batch of insurance claims to farmers from Barangays Anggapang Norte, Aggapang Sur, Bimmanga, Cabuusan, Comcomloong, Lang-ayan-Baramban, Magalaoi Norte, Maglaoi Sur, Paguludan-Salindeg, Pias Norte, Pias Sur, San Simeon, Sta.
