Vintar: A newly constructed storage facility was officially turned over to the Imalawa tribal community in the remote sitio Dasar, Barangay Isic Isic, Vintar, Ilocos Norte. The facility is intended to secure shared resources, vital records, and culturally significant artifacts of the community.
According to Philippines News Agency, the development of the facility was spearheaded by the police's 1st Ilocos Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (INPMFC). It is also expected to serve as an educational hub for preserving the tribe's heritage. During the handover ceremony, Lt. Michael Pay-an, representing acting unit commander Maj. Jomar Andres, highlighted the importance of community support and engagement in making the facility a reality. He expressed hope that it would play a crucial role in the daily life of the Imalawa tribe while honoring their traditions, identity, and history.
Lt. Pay-an extended gratitude for the generous support from various stakeholders and partners, noting that the facility's construction aligns with the government's anti-insurgency campaign aimed at fostering stability, trust, and community resilience.
Macario Gudayan, the Imalawa tribal chieftain and municipal Indigenous Peoples representative, expressed his appreciation for the police unit's contributions in addressing the community's inadequate storage, particularly during adverse weather conditions. He acknowledged the efforts to promote peace and development, especially considering the presence of rebel returnees.
Village chief Rolly Nacuray also voiced his support for maintaining the project and maximizing its benefits for the people. The initiative is part of a broader effort to improve rural infrastructure and promote sustainable development in tribal areas.
