House Speaker Assures Rehabilitation and Recovery Funds for Typhoon Tino Victims

Manila: Speaker Faustino ‘Bojie’ Dy III on Wednesday expressed sympathy and solidarity with the families severely affected by Typhoon Tino (international name Kalmaegi), assuring them that the House of Representatives is ready to assist.

According to Philippines News Agency, Typhoon Tino has affected a total of 203,595 families, or 705,549 individuals, in 2,799 barangays in Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga. As of posting, 10,981 families are seeking temporary shelter in 3,894 evacuation centers, while another 27,698 families chose to stay with relatives.

Speaker Dy highlighted that House members from affected districts are coordinating with national government agencies and local government units to ensure the immediate delivery of support and assistance to their constituents.

Dy reassured those who lost their homes and livelihoods that they are not alone. He emphasized that their representatives will continue to work to ensure that the necessary assistance and protection reach them to help them start anew.

Furthermore, Dy assured typhoon victims that Congress is prepared to allocate funds to expedite their recovery and rehabilitation. He committed that the House, as an institution, will provide the necessary funds and support programs to hasten rehabilitation, economic recovery, and the restoration of damaged facilities.
