San juan: The Jose Rizal University (JRU) Heavy Bombers, led by Sean Salvador, secured a narrow victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Generals, with a final score of 69-66 in the NCAA Season 101 men’s basketball tournament held at the San Juan Arena.
According to Philippines News Agency, Salvador was instrumental in the win, scoring six triples and finishing with a game-high 24 points. In addition to his scoring prowess, Salvador contributed seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal. JRU head coach Nani Epondulan commented on Salvador’s performance, noting the need for him to adjust due to his five turnovers. Epondulan expressed hope that Salvador would learn and mature from these experiences.
Supporting Salvador’s efforts, Allan Laurenaria added 15 points, and Shawn Argente contributed 12 points, helping the Heavy Bombers improve their record to 6-5 in Group B. On the opposing side, Kyle Ochavo led the Generals with 19 points, but it was not enough to prevent their second consecutive defeat.
Wilmar Oftana also had a notable performance for EAC, scoring 12 points, and adding six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Despite these efforts, the Generals remain at the bottom of the standings with a 4-6 record.
