GSIS Willing to Prolong Relief Efforts for Members’ Faster Recovery

Manila: The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) on Thursday announced its preparedness to propose an extension of its current financial relief program if numerous members continue to face challenges in the months ahead.

According to Philippines News Agency, GSIS Vice President for Corporate Communications Marge Jorillo mentioned during an interview with Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon that the program is initially planned to extend until February 7, 2026. However, the pension fund is open to adjustments if post-calamity recovery proves difficult for its members. Jorillo stated that they would recommend any necessary extensions to the governing board and board of trustees.

Jorillo emphasized that the program is available only to qualified active members. Eligibility criteria include having no administrative or criminal cases, not being on leave without pay, and maintaining a minimum of PHP5,000 in net take-home pay, as required by law. This ensures members have sufficient financial stability while availing of the relief measures.

She further noted that GSIS is actively monitoring the condition of government workers in areas affected by typhoons to assess the need for additional relief measures. The interview underscored the government’s ongoing efforts to coordinate support for public sector employees as they rebuild homes and livelihoods following recent calamities.
