Tagum: The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) said Thursday it will roll out targeted service improvements after hearing concerns and suggestions from members, pensioners, and local government partners during a stakeholders' dialogue in Tagum, Davao del Norte.
According to Philippines News Agency, GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said the activity, held on Wednesday, was meant to surface specific issues on speed, clarity, and accessibility of transactions and convert these into concrete operational adjustments.
'We came to Tagum with one clear purpose: to listen to you, and to learn from you. We want to serve you better, and we can only do that if you tell us, plainly and specifically, where we are helping and where we are falling short,' Veloso said.
He said GSIS is focusing on simplifying processes and strengthening communication channels, including expanding digital services, such as the GSIS Touch mobile app, and continuing system upgrades to make transactions more responsive.
'Your pension fund is already 99.6 percent digitalized. But we are open to your suggestions to make it more responsive to you,' he said.
The GSIS chief also reiterated the agency's mandate to protect government assets so public services can continue during disasters and emergencies, noting that the institution provides housing support for government workers in the region.
GSIS has 47 available properties in Davao del Sur, including Tagum, and 12 units in Davao del Norte, including Davao City, Veloso said, adding that qualified buyers are no longer required to make a down payment.
During the visit, GSIS also extended community support by turning over a PHP400,000 technology package under its Adopt-a-School Program to Sambolungan Elementary School in Sitio Sambolungan, Davao del Norte, and Manasa Elementary School in Barangay Anitapan, Davao de Oro.
'We are with you every step of the way. Devices and power matter. Connectivity matters, too," Veloso said during the turnover.
The Department of Education divisions in Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte awarded certificates of appreciation to GSIS for its Adopt-a-School initiatives, while several local government units cited the agency for promoting stability in local governance and safeguarding public assets.
Veloso capped the visit with a press conference with the local media, where he discussed GSIS programs, digital reforms, and the agency's commitment to what it calls 'Ginhawa for All.'
