Manila: The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) recorded 2 million registered users of its GSIS Touch mobile application. GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said the milestone shows how digital tools reshape access to public services, particularly for members outside major urban centers.
According to Philippines News Agency, Veloso stated, "Reaching two million GSIS Touch users proves that when government services are designed around the needs of our members and pensioners, adoption follows," in a news release Wednesday. The agency marked the milestone by granting cash incentives to 201 members and pensioners who registered during the qualifying period.
GSIS reported that the two-millionth registrant received PHP20,000, while the next 200 users received PHP2,000 each. The prizes were credited directly to their GSIS eCard accounts on January 26, 2026. Data released by GSIS showed that more than half of the 201 winners were pensioners, while the rest were active members from local government units, the Department of Education, national government agencies, government-owned or controlled corporations, and the military.
Most of the recipients were based in Visayas and Mindanao, reflecting the app's reach beyond Metro Manila. Launched in 2020, GSIS Touch enables members and pensioners to apply for loans, file claims, track transactions, and comply with requirements such as the Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation using facial recognition technology.
The app also generates a digital GSIS ID that replaces the need for physical cards during transactions. GSIS said the increasing use of GSIS Touch has significantly reduced processing times and minimized branch visits.
