Manila: Senate President Pro Tempore Sherwin Gatchalian on Monday stated that any hearing or investigation conducted outside the duly constituted Blue Ribbon Committee, chaired by Senator Erwin Tulfo, will not be recognized. Gatchalian emphasized the importance of handling corruption investigations through a legitimate Senate forum.

According to Philippines News Agency, Gatchalian declared that the Senate acknowledges only one Blue Ribbon Committee, led by Senator Erwin Tulfo. He clarified that any hearings or investigations conducted outside this committee lack legal standing, institutional authority, and will not be acknowledged by the Senate. Gatchalian stressed the importance of serious and authorized proceedings in exposing corruption and holding wrongdoers accountable.

Gatchalian urged individuals with knowledge of alleged irregularities to come forward and testify before the official Blue Ribbon Committee. He reiterated the Senate's commitment to genuine investigation and prosecution of corruption within the proper framework and forum.

Earlier, the Blue Ribbon Committee disavowed a supposed June 16 hearing announced online by former congressman and Cabinet official Mike Defensor, stating it was neither scheduled nor authorized by the panel.
