Free Therapy Sessions Launched for Indigent PWD in Antique

Antique: The Antique Provincial Government's Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) has initiated free therapy sessions for indigent children with cerebral palsy and adult stroke victims requiring physical rehabilitation. Social Welfare Officer V and PDAO head Careen Panaguiton announced that the program currently serves 14 patients, 11 of whom are children, since its inception earlier this year.

According to Philippines News Agency, the sessions are also being conducted at the Community-Based Inclusive Development Center in San Remigio, where therapy is scheduled twice a month for five patients. Panaguiton emphasized that those interested in availing of the therapy can coordinate with the Persons with Disability focal persons in their respective municipalities. This coordination will allow patients to be assessed by therapists and provided with a therapy schedule.

In the previous year, 15 children and three adult stroke victims participated in the therapy sessions, which were held once or twice a week, based on individual assessments, Panaguiton shared. In addition to the therapy sessions, the Department of Health and Antique Integrated Provincial Health Office are set to distribute assistive devices, including wheelchairs and canes, to persons with disabilities on January 26.
