Baguio: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Thursday advised Baguio-bound motorists that five major roads damaged by past weather disturbances are now passable.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DPWH-Cordillera announced that the roads now open to vehicular traffic include Marcos Highway, Baguio-Bauang Road (Naguilian), Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Road, Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road, and Baguio-Bontoc Road.
The DPWH reported that Kennon Road, another significant route to Baguio City, remains closed. The closure is due to the risk of rockfall and soil collapse. The area is currently under close monitoring, and clearing operations are ongoing.
Additionally, the advisory mentioned that the Baguio-Itogon Road at Sitio Goldfield, Poblacion, Itogon, Benguet is still not passable due to a landslide. Motorists are advised to use the Ucab-Midas Road as an alternative route.
The DPWH cautioned travelers to exercise care on the recently reopened roads as hazards may still be present. Drivers are urged to slow down, obey traffic signs, and remain alert to ensure safety. Recent storms and the southwest monsoon have affected several regions in the country, leading to landslides and flooding.
