Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. paid tribute to First Lady Louise ‘Liza’ Araneta-Marcos on her birthday, describing her as a steadfast partner, loving mother, and tireless First Lady. In a social media post early Thursday, the President called Liza his ‘first and only lady,’ recalling her role not only in their family but also in public service.
According to Philippines News Agency, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez also extended his warmest greetings to the First Lady. In his message, Romualdez said Mrs. Marcos’ ‘grace, wisdom, and quiet strength’ have been a constant source of inspiration to her family and countless Filipinos who admire her steadfast dedication to service.
‘Behind your humility is a resolute spirit that uplifts those around you and reinforces our President’s vision of building a stronger and better Philippines,’ he said. ‘Happy birthday, Madam First Lady! On behalf of the House of Representatives, I extend our warmest greetings and sincere prayers for many more years of joy, resilience, and blessings in the company of your loved ones,’ Romualdez said.
A lawyer and longtime law professor, the First Lady has been actively involved in socio-civic work, lending support to programs on women’s and children’s welfare, legal aid, and community outreach. She has also taken a leading role in ‘Lab for All,’ a flagship initiative that brings free medical consultations, diagnostic services, and medicines to communities across the country, in partnership with the Department of Health and local government units.
Beyond her advocacies, Mrs. Marcos continues to juggle her profession as an academic with her responsibilities as First Lady, often accompanying the President in official engagements at home and abroad. Earlier this week, the First Lady shared on her social media that she would go on a birthday sabbatical.
