Siargao: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) has successfully completed the replenishment of family food packs (FFPs) in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte. The strategic move aims to ensure preparedness and swift response in the event of disasters and calamities on the island.
According to Philippines News Agency, DSWD-13 confirmed in a Facebook post that as of March 29, a total of 13,900 FFPs are stocked in the island's warehouses. These food packs are primed and ready for distribution to affected communities during emergencies. The recent delivery included 2,000 FFPs to Del Carmen town and another 2,000 boxes to Dapa town, completing the agency's replenishment efforts.
DSWD Field Office Caraga emphasized its commitment to maintaining a state of readiness, ensuring the ability to provide timely assistance when disasters strike. The FFPs, which are among the immediate relief measures provided by the government, are designed to support a family of five for two to three days. Each pack contains essential items such as rice, canned goods, instant food, and drinks, catering to the immediate nutritional needs of affected families.
