Drug Abuse Prevention Week Begins with Multi-Agency Motorcade in Calapan City

Calapan city: The 2025 observance of Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) Week formally opened on Monday through a multi-agency motorcade led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Oriental Mindoro, with key law enforcement units joining the advocacy drive.

According to Philippines News Agency, personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) took part in the convoy, which passed through major roads in the city to promote government initiatives aimed at building drug-free and resilient communities.

Representing the BJMP were Jail Chief Inspector Bryan Ian Paul Ra±ada, Jail Provincial Administrator, and Jail Senior Inspector Rodante Cayabyab, Acting District Jail Warden. Their participation underscored the Bureau’s continuing role in the anti-drug campaign, particularly in strengthening rehabilitation programs and maintaining secure and reformative environments for persons deprived of liberty (PDL).

BJMP Mimaropa spokesperson Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo said the activity highlights the importance of sustained cooperation among law enforcement agencies in addressing drug-related concerns in the province.

‘Through active participation in DAPC initiatives, the BJMP reinforces its commitment to rehabilitation efforts and community awareness programs that support the broader goal of drug demand reduction,’ Anglo said in a news release.

The event marks the start of a weeklong series of activities aimed at promoting public awareness, strengthening prevention measures, and supporting rehabilitation-focused programs in line with the national anti-drug agenda.
