DPWH Launches ‘Integrity Chain’ Portal to Enhance Transparency Initiatives

Manila: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has rolled out its Integrity Chain Portal to ensure traceable, auditable, and accessible records for accredited validators of the Blockchain Council of the Philippines (BCP), expanding its transparency initiatives.

According to Philippines News Agency, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon stated that the initiative complies with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the agency to leverage digitalization and strengthen private organization oversight to verify and monitor all projects-from bidding and planning to final awarding and completion.

"This is a major step in ensuring that what we've seen in the past doesn't happen again. And this is what the President keeps on repeating. Not only do we need to hold people to account, not only do we need to get the people's money back, but even more important is we make sure that this [flood control scandal] does not happen again," Dizon said in a news release on Wednesday.

An initiative with partners BCP, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and BYC Ventures, the Integrity Chain provides validators with a real-time dashboard for decentralized and secure monitoring of infrastructure projects.

"I'm very thankful to President Donald [Lim] and the entire team over at the Blockchain Council of the Philippines, the MAP, BYC, all our private sector partners because I mean, really, we cannot fix this by ourselves," Dizon added. "And we really need the innovations brought in by the private sector."
