Manila: The regional office of the Department of Tourism (DOT) has made its accreditation services more accessible to Antique stakeholders with its four-day 'Accreditation on Wheels' that kicked off in this capital town on Tuesday. It will move to San Remigio on Wednesday and other select towns in the province in the succeeding days.

According to Philippines News Agency, 'DOT 6 (Western Visayas) personnel will be on hand to assist hotels, resorts, and other tourism-related establishment owners, as well as tour guides to be accredited by the DOT,' the office's Training and Accreditation Officer Diane Tajanlangit said in an interview. Tajanlangit emphasized that accreditation is necessary for stakeholders to avail of technical assistance, such as processing online bookings and refunds.

The initiative aims to make the DOT accreditation process more accessible, convenient, and efficient for tourism establishments in Antique. It provides stakeholders an opportunity to learn more about accreditation requirements, submit their applications, and have their establishments inspected without having to travel far, the DOT said in a statement.

The mobile service is also conducted as part of the Tourism Month celebration this September. 'This Tourism Month celebration, we will focus on the campaign for the accreditation of the tourism-related businesses so they could avail of the free training by the DOT and that they will be recommended in the tour packages,' Antique Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office Tourism Promotions Officer Celestino Dalumpines IV said. He noted that it would also be easier for them to generate tourist arrivals in Antique from accredited establishments and guides.
