Manila: The Department of Tourism (DOT) has announced the appointment of Stanley Ng, former chief of Philippine Airlines, along with Maria Victoria Jasmin and Ma. Dionesa Rivera-Guillermo, as new undersecretaries. These appointments were made under the leadership of Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay.
According to Philippines News Agency, Stanley Ng will oversee the DOT's Halal Tourism and Muslim Concerns office. Maria Victoria Jasmin is set to manage the agency's Tourism Regulation, Coordination, and Resource Generation office, while Ma. Dionesa Rivera-Guillermo will assume the role of Undersecretary for Administration and Finance. This information was confirmed by DOT Spokesperson Ina Zara-Loyola on Tuesday.
The DOT expressed confidence in the newly appointed undersecretaries, highlighting their extensive experience in both public and private sectors. The department emphasized that their expertise and leadership are expected to strengthen the Department's programs and initiatives aimed at advancing a more competitive, inclusive, and sustainable tourism industry in the Philippines.
Maria Victoria Jasmin brings prior experience to her new role, having served as DOT undersecretary during the tenure of former Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr. She was instrumental in efforts to enhance the classification of hotels and other accommodation establishments to meet international standards.
In her previous position, Ma. Dionesa Rivera-Guillermo served as Deputy Director General for the Government Procurement Policy Board-Technical Support Office. Her experience is expected to contribute significantly to her new role in overseeing administration and finance within the DOT.
