Las vegas: The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is closely monitoring the case of a 75-year-old Filipino woman who was reported missing and later found dead in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. ‘We are awaiting official information from the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles before issuing further details,’ DFA Spokesperson Angelica Escalona said in a statement. ‘In the meantime, we ask the public and media to avoid speculation and to respect the family’s privacy.’
According to Philippines News Agency, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department earlier identified the woman as Lourdes Morin, who was last seen on the morning of July 26 near Dorothy Avenue while reportedly on her way to attend Mass at St. Viator Church. Her disappearance prompted a citywide search.
Morin’s body was allegedly discovered three days later in a ravine around 10 kilometers from her last known location. Authorities said the remains were already in a state of decomposition and were found by hikers.
