Davao Occidental Town Wins National KALAHI Award

Cebu city: The municipality of Sarangani in Davao Occidental has been recognized as the national champion for its community-driven development project.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao announced that Sarangani triumphed in the 2025 TATAK KALAHI-CIDSS awards for its “Tire Path with Two Cross Drains” subproject. This initiative has notably improved access and mobility in areas prone to flooding.

DSWD-11 Regional Director Rhuelo Aradanas highlighted the significance of the project, noting its impact on enhancing transportation and connectivity in the region. Mayor Adelan de Arce accepted the prestigious award during a forum held in Cebu City.

“Sarangani’s victory underscores the commitment of both LGU leaders and community volunteers to inclusive, participatory, and sustainable development,” Aradanas stated in an interview. The recognition serves as a testament to the collaborative efforts of local government units and community members in driving forward meaningful development projects.
