Davao city: The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao (DSWD-11) has announced the distribution of seed capital and livelihood projects totaling PHP950,000 to two associations in Davao City and Davao del Norte.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Marvelous General Merchandiser Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Association in Paquibato district received a PHP450,000 seed fund. Meanwhile, the Panaghiusa nga Panginabuhian sa Lunga-og SLPA in Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte, was granted a PHP400,000 livelihood project.
The Marvelous General Merchandiser SLP Association plans to use the funds to operate a general merchandise and buy-and-sell business. On the other hand, the Panaghiusa nga Panginabuhian sa Lunga-og SLPA will focus on Crispy Fry production and offer table-and-chair rental services for community events, aiming to generate steady income and cater to local demands.
DSWD-11 stated that the aid is expected to enhance the income of the associations, particularly benefiting families from marginalized sectors. The agency views this initiative as a strategic effort to strengthen community resilience, promote self-reliance, and stimulate grassroots economic growth.
The funding is part of DSWD-11’s ongoing efforts to empower organized groups and encourage rural development through sustainable, community-led enterprises.
