Davao City Allocates P6.6 Million for Aid to Earthquake and Typhoon-Affected Areas

Davao city: The city government has disbursed PHP6.6 million in financial assistance to areas in Cebu and Davao Oriental that have been impacted by recent natural disasters, including earthquakes and typhoons.

According to Philippines News Agency, Alfredo Baloran, who leads the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), disclosed in an interview that PHP3.9 million was allocated to Cebu, while PHP2.7 million was dispatched to Davao Oriental. Baloran personally delivered the aid to Cebu on September 30, distributing PHP1 million to the provincial government, PHP500,000 to Bogo City, and PHP300,000 each to eight municipalities.

Additionally, Baloran provided PHP2.7 million in assistance to Davao Oriental following the severe earthquakes of magnitudes 7.4 and 6.8 on October 10. He stressed the necessity of preparedness, urging residents to engage earnestly in earthquake and flood drills and to heed advisories related to preemptive evacuations.
