Butuan city: The Department of Agriculture in Caraga Region has prepared PHP10.1 million worth of seeds and farm inputs for farmers affected by Typhoon Tino. The supplies, including rice, corn, and vegetable seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, are stored at a facility in Barangay Taguibo, Butuan City, the DA-13 information office reported.
According to Philippines News Agency, for rice farmers, the available aid includes 520 bags of hybrid seeds valued at PHP2.6 million, 1,907 bags of certified seeds worth PHP1.68 million, and various pesticides. For corn farmers, the department has readied 100 bags of hybrid seeds worth PHP600,000, 50 bags of fertilizer amounting to PHP100,000, and rodenticides.
Assistance for high-value crops includes 34,000 pouches of assorted vegetable seeds worth PHP1.26 million. The DA-13 is currently awaiting damage assessments from local government units before proceeding with the distribution of these resources.
