Dipolog: Authorities arrested a couple and seized PHP6.8 million worth of shabu in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga del Norte.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-9 (RDEU-9) identified the suspects as Amo, 37, of Rizal, Zamboanga del Norte, and Lady Sara, 29. They were arrested during a buy-bust operation at around 10:07 a.m. at the Boulevard in Barangay Miputak, Dipolog City.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of 20 large heat-sealed plastic sachets containing one kilogram of suspected shabu. Authorities also seized buy-bust money and a sports utility vehicle from the couple.
The operation was spearheaded by RDEU-9 with assistance from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, local police, and the 97th Infantry Battalion. Zamboanga del Norte Governor Darel Uy visited the site and emphasized the significance of inter-agency collaboration in the fight against illegal drugs.
The suspects are currently held at the Dipolog City Police Station and are facing charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
