Cordillera Police Leverages Drone Technology for Undas 2025 Success

Cordillera: The Police Regional Office-Cordillera Administrative Region (PROCAR) has credited the success of its Oplan Undas 2025 operations to the implementation of SQUADRONE technologies, which were launched in October.

According to Philippines News Agency, the SQUADRONE initiative, which stands for Smart Quadrotor Unit for Advanced Deployment, Detection, Reconnaissance, Observation and Networked Enforcement, has significantly enhanced public safety measures. Brig. Gen. Erickson Dilag, PROCAR regional director, highlighted that the new technologies have improved situational awareness and expanded security coverage throughout the region.

These technological advancements, including drones and body-worn cameras, have enabled police personnel to effectively monitor crowd movements, manage traffic flows, and maintain public safety in real time. Dilag emphasized that the success of Oplan Undas 2025 in the Cordillera region showcases the effectiveness of SQUADRONE, alongside inter-agency cooperation and public support.

Drones were strategically deployed in major cemeteries, such as the Baguio Public Cemetery and the Buyagan Cemetery in La Trinidad, to augment police efforts in conducting roving activities, checking for violations, and maintaining order. Reports from all Police Provincial Offices and the Baguio City Police Office confirmed a peaceful observance of the Undas weekend, with no significant incidents recorded.

Capt. Clotheldee Pacuyan of PROCOR’s Regional Public Information Office elaborated that the SQUADRONE comprises seven teams, each with three members, and is equipped with 20 high-resolution drones, night vision cameras, and hybrid drones for various operational environments. This initiative aims to bolster the Philippine National Police’s operational capabilities by providing real-time aerial surveillance, faster emergency response, and improved situational awareness.

The SQUADRONE program supports crime scene investigation, search and rescue operations, surveillance, crowd monitoring, traffic accident investigation, and disaster response. It also assists in environmental and crime monitoring, perimeter security, suspect tracking, and enhances officer safety and training.

Brig. Gen. Dilag affirmed that the launch of the PROCAR Drone SQUADRONE marks a significant advancement in operational capability, aiding in search and rescue, marijuana eradication, and other law enforcement activities while enhancing officer safety and situational awareness.
