Iloilo city: The local government has established a committee aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in project implementation across Iloilo City. Mayor Raisa Tre±as issued Executive Order No. 084, which led to the formation of the Iloilo City Infrastructure Coordination Committee. This committee is tasked with validating the feasibility of proposed projects and ensuring their alignment with the Iloilo City Comprehensive Land Use Plan.
According to Philippines News Agency, the initiative seeks to make government projects more effective and useful while aligning them with the city’s progressive vision. Mayor Tre±as emphasized that the committee would oversee projects from the conceptualization stage through to the finalization of detailed engineering and architectural designs. The goal is to ensure projects are well-organized, with transparent agency operations, by requiring plans, budgets, and funding sources to be presented to the committee.
The executive order mandates that coordination takes place before any project work begins, aiming to protect both people and the environment. A Certificate of Coordination will be required to expedite and smoothen project implementation, ensuring compliance with the committee’s assessments.
The order applies to all temporary or permanent infrastructure projects within Iloilo City’s jurisdiction, including those managed by national government agencies, government-owned corporations, and public schools, but excludes state universities and certain road improvements. The committee, chaired by the city mayor, includes directors from regional government departments and city officials, with the Punong Barangay serving as an ad hoc member for relevant projects.
Upon the committee’s endorsement, the mayor will issue a Certificate of Coordination, which is necessary for securing permits and clearances from various city government departments.
