San jose de buenavista: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has been conducting inspections of the 22 voting centers in this capital town in preparation for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE). San Jose de Buenavista Municipal Election Officer Johnna Catilo highlighted the importance of ensuring that voting centers are prepared, given the absence of an official announcement regarding the postponement of the synchronized elections scheduled for November 2.

According to Philippines News Agency, Catilo emphasized the expectation that the 39,870 registered voters will participate in the BSKE 2026, necessitating the readiness of voting centers on Election Day. Special attention is being given to schools prone to flooding, like Inabasan Elementary School, to establish voting centers in classrooms that offer safety for voters. Additionally, efforts are being made to ensure that voting centers are accessible, spacious, and equipped with holding areas.

Catilo also advised aspiring candidates to prepare necessary documents such as birth certificates and documentary stamps for the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC). She noted the importance of early preparation to allow time for any necessary corrections. The Comelec office in San Jose de Buenavista is planning an orientation for interested candidates regarding COC filing in mid-September.

Should the elections proceed, Comelec plans to facilitate the filing of COCs at Robinsons Place, which offers a convenient ground-floor location suitable for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women. The COC filing period for the 2026 BSKE is scheduled from September 28 to October 5.
