Davao: The Commission on Elections-Davao (Comelec-11) has revived its satellite registration activities in malls for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE). The registration period began on Aug. 1 and will run until Aug. 10.

According to Philippines News Agency, lawyer Gay Enumerables, the Comelec-11 assistant regional director, announced that the city’s three districts have scheduled registrations in various malls. For the second district, first-time registrants may go to NCCC Mall in Buhangin until Aug. 10. First district registrants can visit NCCC Victoria Plaza on Aug. 9 and 10, while the third district will have registration at Vista Mall in Mintal on Aug. 7 and Gaisano Mall in Toril on Aug. 8.

Enumerables explained that the mall registrations are aimed at addressing accessibility issues, stating, “We cannot reach the far-flung areas, which is why we do a clustering of the barangays and schedule satellite registrations.” Additionally, a registration for persons deprived of liberty is scheduled on Aug. 7 at the Maa City Jail.

Regarding the target number of first-time voter registrants, Enumerables mentioned that there is no specific target but expressed hope to register at least 1 percent of the total registered voters in Region 11. She noted that achieving this within the 10-day period would be challenging.
