Zamboanga city: The city government has suspended classes at all levels in public and private schools Tuesday due to inclement weather. Mayor Khymer Olaso ordered the suspension as the city experiences light to heavy rains from the trough of Typhoon Tino (international name Kalmaegi). Olaso emphasized that the safety of students, teachers, and other school personnel is of paramount concern and advised residents to “please stay vigilant and alert, especially those living in low-lying areas and near riverbanks.”
According to Philippines News Agency, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario has placed the Emergency Operations Center on alert. Apolinario stated that the center is actively monitoring the situation in different barangays, with particular attention to flood-prone areas and rivers.
He further urged Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees to assist in monitoring their communities and to take immediate action as necessary.
