Chery Tiggo Sweeps ZUS Coffee, Strengthens Finals Bid

Pasig city: Chery Tiggo cruised past ZUS Coffee, 25-17, 25-17, 25-23, to bolster its Finals campaign in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational at the Philsports Arena on Tuesday night. Princess Robles led the Crossovers with 17 points built on 15 attacks and two blocks, steering her team to victory in just one hour and 19 minutes.

According to Philippines News Agency, Chery Tiggo improved to a 3-1 record, keeping hold of second place. Victonara Galang contributed nine points, Renee Pe±afiel had eight points, while skipper Abigail Mara±o, Jasmine Nabor, and Imee Hernandez scored five points each. “The effort is still not enough. As long as we don’t reach the goal, our work isn’t done,” said libero Jennifer Nierva, who was named Best Player of the Game after anchoring Chery Tiggo’s defense with 11 excellent digs and 19 receptions.

Kate Santiago paced ZUS Coffee with 11 points, while Caroline Santos and Wielyn Estoque had nine apiece. The squad ended its campaign with a 0-3 record. Chery Tiggo now turns its focus to Kobe Shinwa University on Thursday, a must-win match for the remaining Finals berth. PLDT has already secured the first spot after a clean 4-0 slate.

Earlier, Kobe Shinwa stunned defending champion Creamline in four sets, 27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21, to climb to third place with a 2-1 card. Kokoro Yasuma spearheaded the Japanese side with 23 points, while Arisu Ishikawa and Nagisa Komatsuda contributed 16 points each. Reira Miyazaki added 11. For Creamline, Jeanette Panaga and Jessica Margaret Galanza tallied 20 points apiece in the tough loss.
