KUALA LUMPUR, The gold futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended higher today ahead of the US producer price index (PPI) data which will be released later tonight. At the end of trading, August 2024 rose to US$2,468.90 per troy ounce from US$2,452.50 per troy ounce at yesterday’s close. KUALA LUMPUR, The Road Transport Department (JPJ) director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli visited the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) today as part of the effort to strengthen relationships with media practitioners. KUALA LUMPUR, Police arrested a woman in Gombak, Selangor, yesterday for allegedly cheating a 59-year-old pensioner in the sale of a plot of land resulting in a loss of RM60,400. Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the arrest of the woman in her 40s was made following a police report lodged by the victim on Aug 4. According to Ramli, the pensioner claimed to have signed a 1.62-hectare land Sale and Purchase Agreement based on the power-of-attorney given to the suspect by the original owner of the land on Nov 5, 2021.

KUALA LUMPUR, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today granted an audience to the Rais (President) of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov at Istana Negara. According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook, the meeting between the two old friends that also discussed opportunities for bilateral collaboration lasted about 45 minutes. SHAH ALAM, A total of 250 students and teaching staff from various technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions today participated in the Exploration Programme of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Course (KIAR), organised by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). MACC Community Education Division director Nazli Rasyid Sulong said the programme, held at the Datuk Seri Azam Baki Hall at the Selangor MACC office here, aimed at, among other things, sharing aspirations regarding the decision to make KIAR a mandatory module in all TVET institutions.
