PUTRAJAYA, The CERN Summer Student Programme (CSSP), at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland, organised by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) has succeeded in improving the country’s scientific capabilities in addition to promoting international cooperation. Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang said apart from this, it is also able to stimulate students’ interest in the field of science and technology. He said in that regard, Malaysia will continue to explore opportunities to increase the participation of students in such prestigious international programmes, with the latest sending two students from higher education institutions recently.

IPOH, Police arrested eight men on suspicion of stealing Telekom Malaysia (TM) copper cables in Jalan Keliling, Taman Canning here early today. SHAH ALAM, Three individuals, including two civil servants, have been remanded for four days starting today to assist in the investigation into a RM30,000 bribery case. The remand order against one man and two women, aged between 30 and 40, was issued by Magistrate Ameera Mastura Khamis following an application from the Selangor branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). According to a source, the two civil servants are suspected of accepting bribes totalling RM15,000 each in 2021 and 2022, respectively, in return for altering the outcome of a chemical report related to a drug investigation. PUTRAJAYA, The Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) and the Turkish competition authority, the Turkish Competition Authority (TCA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) yesterday (Sept 10) aimed at strengthening cooperation in facing challenges in competition law enforcement.
