Mahkota Polls: 8.89 Per Cent Voter Turnout As Of 9 am

KLUANG, A total of 8.89 per cent of the eligible voters in the Mahkota by-election have cast their ballots as of 9 am today, according to the Election Commission (EC). All the 20 polling centres involving 109 channels were opened simultaneously at 8 am for the 61,274 eligible voters to fulfil their responsibility of electing the new state assemblyman. The weather was good and checks by Bernama at several polling centres showed that voting was proceeding smoothly. Gov’t Guarantees Transparent PDRM Investigation Into GISBH – Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, The government is committed to ensuring that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) conducts a transparent investigation into GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said. ‘This includes guaranteeing that the 542 children under the age of 18, currently placed in temporary shelters, have access to welfare services, counselling, spiritual guidance and education until the investigations by PDRM, the religious department and state religious councils and Social Welfare Department (JKM) are concluded,’ he said in a statement today. KUALA LUMPUR, Business activities involving GlSB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) in the country are believed to have come to a halt following a series of large-scale raids conducted by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) under Op Global phases 1 to 4, which commenced early this month. During these operations, PDRM froze 138 bank accounts belonging to GISBH, seizing over RM800,000 in funds.
