Three Killed, Five Injured In Seven-vehicle Crash On KL-Karak Expressway

KUANTAN, Three men died and five others were injured, three seriously, in a seven-vehicle pileup at KM 42 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway today. A spokesman for the Pahang Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Pahang said they received an emergency call at 4.13 am regarding a road crash involving four cars, a three-ton lorry and two trailers. The crash involved 13 casualties, comprising nine men and four women. “Immediately after arriving at the scene, the firemen carried out the work of removing the victims from the wrecked vehicles and extinguishing a trailer truck that was on fire,” he said

PNP: 36K cops to secure candidacy filing for 2025 polls

Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said 36,000 cops would be deployed to maintain peace and order during the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the May 2025 midterm polls from Oct. 1 to 8. Erwin Tulfo leads Pahayag September senatorial survey

Manila: On the eve of the start of filing of certificates of candidacy for the 2025 elections on Tuesday, political consultancy firm Publicus Asia released a senatorial preference survey where ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo emerged as the leading candidate. The PAHAYAG survey, conducted from Sept. 15 to 19, 2024, found that 42 percent of the respondents would vote for Tulfo if the elections were held during the survey period. He was followed closely by former senators Panfilo Lacson and Vicente Sotto III with 38 percent and 37 percent, respectively. Former President Rodrigo Duterte took fourth place with 36 percent.

CAAP’s system upgrade ‘successful’

Manila: The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said upgrading of the air traffic management system early Monday was successfully completed. “There were no flights delayed/affected during software update from 12:30 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.,” CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said in a Viber message.
