Anwar Meets Pakistani Counterpart To Start Second Day Of Visit

ISLAMABAD, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim began the second day of his three-day state visit to Pakistan with a restricted meeting with his Pakistani counterpart, Shehbaz Sharif, at the Pakistan Prime Minister’s official residence today. Flood In Kedah Recedes, Last PPS Closed

ALOR SETAR, The floods in Kedah have fully recovered after the last temporary evacuation centre (PPS) was closed today. Kedah Civil Defence Force (APM) deputy director, Major (PA) Mohd Suhaimi Mohd Zain said the PPS at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Alor Merah in the Kota Setar district, which opened on Sept 29, closed at 9.30 this morning. “The PPS previously accommodated 89 people from 25 families as of 8 this morning, it was closed after all the victims were allowed to return to their respective homes as the water had receded completely,” he said in a statement here today. FBM KLCI Futures Higher In Early Trade

KUALA LUMPUR, The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures were higher in early trade today. At 9.30 am, the October 2024 contract rose 4.5 points to 1,643.5, November 2024 improved 5.0 points to 1,647.5, December 2024 increased by 6.0 points to 1,651.0, and March 2025 gained 6.5 points to 1,639.5. Turnover stood at 1,259 lots, while open interest amounted to 43,388 contracts. The FBM KLCI, which opened higher, fell by 6.74 points to 1,632.57 after 30 minutes of trading. BIR: VAT on digital service providers not new tax

Manila: The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) said on Thursday the value-added tax (VAT) on resident and non-resident digital service providers is not a new tax. ‘This is not a new tax.
