Top wanted NPA rebel in Caraga arrested

BUTUAN CITY – Police have apprehended one of the most wanted New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in the Caraga Region, an official said Thursday. Brig. Gen. Alan Nazarro, director of the Police Regional Office-Caraga (PRO-13), identified the rebel as “Rudy Amara,” 31, the vice commanding officer of the weakened NPA Guerrilla Front 30. The arrest took place on Tuesday in Carmen, Surigao del Sur. ‘Amara faces six counts of murder, five counts of frustrated murder, three counts of attempted murder, and a charge of slight illegal detention,’ Nazarro said. Bicol cops arrest 110 illegal drug suspects in Sept.

LEGAZPI CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO) 5 (Bicol) arrested 110 individuals involved in illegal drug transactions during operations conducted in the region’s six provinces in September. In a report on Wednesday, PRO-5 spokesperson, Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, said a total of 115 drug operations were conducted, including buy-busts and service of warrants of arrest and search warrants. “Among the 110 arrested drug personalities, 17 were included as high-value individuals and 93 were street-level individuals,” she said.
