Palace refutes Duterte’s claim, says PH safer, more secure under PBBM

MANILA – Malacañang on Monday refuted the claim of former President Rodrigo Duterte that crime remains rampant in the Philippines, stressing that the country and Filipinos are safer under the Marcos administration. In a statement, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said there has been a ‘widespread decline in crime across the board’, citing data from the Philippine National Police. ‘Moreover, we have achieved stability and maintained peace and order in our country without foregoing due process nor setting aside the basic human rights of any Filipino,’ Bersamin stressed. Duterte attended on Monday the Senate hearing on his administration’s bloody anti-drug campaign.

MSMEs in 7 provinces, 26 municipalities may apply for recovery loan

MANILA – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Monday said micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in seven provinces and 26 municipalities and cities affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name Trami) may apply for recovery loans. SC asked to void Taguig ordinance hiking number of councilors

MANILA – Retired Supreme Court (SC) associate justice Dante Tiñga on Monday filed a petition asking the high court to nullify a Taguig City ordinance that increased from eight to 12 the number of elected councilors in the city’s two districts.
